Congratulations to Mrs. Sue Isaksen Teacher of the Year for Vista del Mar Elementary School. Mrs. Isaksen is a very well respected teacher in the district and school. We are so blessed to have so many outstanding teachers and honored that she represents the excellent instruction we provide our students at VDMES. Congratulations Mrs. Isaksen!
This year's California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) tests will be administered at Vista del Mar during the two week period of May 9-20, 2016. Please ensure that your children (3rd-5th grade students) are at school during that period of time.
Please share with your friends in the community: Our kindergarten parent information meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 9th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Our kindergarten teachers, staff and administrators will present information on our school, the kindergarten programs and the registration process for 2016-2017. Please join us along with other new kindergarten parents on Tuesday, February 9th.
In order to ensure that students are attending their appropriately designated school, the Vista Del Mar schools will require all families to complete a Residency Verification Form. School residency requires that a student is physically residing in the identified address. Each family will be required to submit identification, rental or mortgage documentation and two acceptable forms of residency verification. Only one verification packet per family is required, even if you have children at both elementary and middle schools. The District will use an address verification company and a private investigator in this process.
Acceptable verification documents are outlined on the Residence Verification Form which can be downloaded below. We will also have copies of the blank forms at the front reception desk.
Documentation may be submitted at the reception desk during the following days and times:
- January 4th - 8th from 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
- January 11th - 15th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- January 19th & 20th from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Due to the number of forms we will be processing, we cannot make copies.
The deadline for submission of the above documents to the school site is January 20, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.

Vista del Mar Elementary is proud of our parent support. One of our Signature Practices as a Distinguished School is our Parents! Please look on our PTA and MAKO Foundation websites for more information about how you can help.
School Spirit - Under the Quick Links is the Spirit Wear Order Form. All Spirit Wear is sold through the order form only!
As a means to keep our Mako Families up-to-date with information and 'stay green', we provide you with three main electronic communication networks - the school webpage, weekly Listserv messages and weekly School Messenger phone calls. This also helps us reduce the amount of paper flyers in your child's backpack each week.
- Our webpage is updated each month to provide you with quick links to important information. See the left-hand column Quick Links section where you will find information on topics from the 2015-2016 School Calendar and School Schedule to Parking Lot Procedures and School Supply Lists.
- If you want to receive weekly e-mails with up-to-date events and important information, please click on the Listserv link on the right hand column of this webpage. Every Friday, you will receive information to help you stay in touch with all the events and activities at Vista del Mar Elementary School.
- Every Saturday morning, I will call the main contact number in our student information system to let you know of important events and information.
This is in addition, to our fantastic office staff and teachers who keep you informed about programs and services we provide for your child each day.
Thanks for helping us keep our ocean blue and landscapes green.
Let's go Makos!
