Third Grade

What's Happening in Third Grade?

  • Third graders have completed their first oral presentation.  Each student prepared a presentation for the class about where he/she would like to travel in the future.  The students included activities they’d do while they are there, sights they’d see, and foods they’d eat.

  • The students are learning how to write strong paragraphs with a topic sentence, detail sentences, and a concluding sentence.  The students are also learning all the steps of the writing process as they write a different paragraph each week in class.

  • Cursive writing instruction has started in third grade!  We are starting with the lower case letters and will be moving on to the upper case letters later in the year.  Students can practice only the letters that have been taught in class at home to show their parents what their cursive writing looks like.

  • Keep practicing those math facts (addition and subtraction) at home.  Later in the year third graders will learn how to multiply and divide!
